How to create an outline of modules & lessons for my course?

If you are a member of the VALIDATE program you can view Gillian’s training on this here: VALIDATE Module 4, Lesson 10.

If you are not a member of VALIDATE, then you can follow these steps to create your module process:

  1. Grab pieces of paper (8 ½ by 11 works great) for each BIG step you have in your process
  2. On each piece of paper write the name of the step or the process of that step
  3. This will be the modules of your program
  4. Then use sticky notes and write one lesson you need for your program or your membership. 
  5. Take the sticky notes and put them on the different papers (modules) you created. Move them around as needed.
  6. After you have organized your lessons and modules how you would like, be sure to add them to a document (we use google docs) so that you have them online and easily accessible.

This is a great method for figuring out exactly what modules and lessons you need and how to arrange them. 

Also note that it’s better to have multiple lessons RATHER than multiple modules. For example you can create 4 modules with 6 lessons in each module, this would be preferable to creating 8 modules with 4 lessons in each module.
