How do you protect your proprietary course content?

There's very little you can do to prevent someone from copying your work, but, honestly, most people buy from the legitimate creators of courses because they want the "real deal" and they don't trust the clearing house type companies or the imposters. It happens to Gillian too, all the time, but doesn't seem to have much of a negative impact on her business.

Three things you can do to help:

  1. Build strong relationships with your audience so they trust you and want to buy from YOU.
  2. Trademark your program name and logo. This enables you to send "cease and desist" orders to companies that try to sell knock-offs and gives you basis for legal action.
  3. Set up your course so that it's not easy to download the videos or other resources. (e.g. don't provide download buttons; instead, place the content on the pages themselves)
